It’s deeply emotional, obsessed with exploring the intricacies of humanity. It’s soft and loving and heartfelt. The performances are beautiful and full of vulnerability and nuance. And the whole movie is just one big love letter to the power of living.

SO bad. Respect your audience, for Christ's sake. What a pointless imposition. Even at only 1 1/2 hours. The longest you'll ever spend trying to make out something, anything, in the dark. Conceptually vacuous. Absurdly soporific cinematrophy. WT*** were the director and cinematographer thinking. And how much did they get paid?!

Despite a bonkers opening sequence, and a promising premise with themes of A.I., adoptive families, and memory; After Yang plods way too long with aimless characters and too much whispering.
