In 2028, OmniCorp is at the center of robot technology. While its drones have long been used by the military overseas, their use is forbidden in American law enforcement. However, OmniCorp gets a golden opportunity to crack that market when Detroit cop Alex Murphy is critically injured in the line of duty. By transforming Murphy into a cyborg, OmniCorp executives hope to rake in billions for their shareholders, but they forget one thing: There's still a man inside the machine.

[A]fter an opening sequence as promising as the one here, it needs at least an attempted follow-through, not the jumble of confused ideas and time-wasting effects that take up the bulk of the film.

While the Robocop remake displays quite the upgrade with its stunning visuals for its futuristic aesthetic, the film's blandness and lack of originality, especially in its villain are major drawbacks, preventing it from being a truly memorable reboot. Grading: C

I don't know why anyone thought this needed to be remade. There were some good opening scenes, pardon the pun, but it descended into heavy-handed dialogue that made me detest half of the characters. I'm Australian so I'm fascinated with Abbie Cornish. Samuel L Jackson just pissed me off again in a token role. Definitely missed the awkward clunkyness of the original classic. Don't bother with this.
