Moonraker, the newest James Bond spectacle, is a cheerful, splashy entertainment. The curators of the Bond museum do not surpass themselves with this exhibition, the 11th in the series, but they haven't fallen down on the job either. Go to Full Review

Christopher Wood's script takes the characters exactly where they always go in a James Bond pic and the only question is whether the stunts and gadgets will live up to expectations. They do. Go to Full Review

Like the last Bond exercise, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker hits its stride by being silly and spectacular. Go to Full Review

I wanted to love this film and to see something actually new and interesting, but instead, I got a boring and confusing plot that had me simply waiting for the runtime to get over. Go to Full Review

Moonraker is still basically good fun and I suppose that's all it's supposed to be. Go to Full Review

Yaaron R @KompetenterMedi 13h Bigger setting, smaller payoff Moonraker throws Bond into space, but it mostly magnifies the same problems. The "Bond girl is a trap" routine returns, Drax is so obviously the villain that there is no fun in the reveal, and the plot runs on convenience more than logic. The opening parachute scene briefly promises excitement, then quickly exposes the film’s technical limits, a pattern repeated with fights that rely on sped up footage to fake impact. The space laser sequence is especially weak, even if the idea of a villain lair in orbit is fine on paper. Jaws still feels like a prop, only gaining personality in the Dolly moments. A few Moore one liners land, but the rest is tired, clumsy, and exhausting. See more Alec B @Alec97 20h Basically a remake of its predecessor. Incredibly ridiculous (even by this series' standards the gondola hovercraft and the space battle are really nuts) but I also kind of love it. Beautiful sets, Jaws is the movie's Wile E. Coyote until he switches sides, and this is the one time that you get a sense of why the main villain has so many henchmen (it's a cult!) See more Stephen C @bob25009 Jan 25 The worldwide gross is $210,300,000.00. See more Erin M @Mightymotes Jan 15 Great Bond movie with crazy and interesting antics, gadgets and plot twists and turns. Roger Moore is one of the most unique and charming 007. Lots of action and laughs. If you can’t enjoy this you’re doing something wrong in life! Watched it so many times when I was growing up and thought it was super cool and recently watched it again and it’s still a stellar Bond movie night with popcorn and beers. See more Oliver J @Ollie1997 Oct 28 Critics Consensus: “Moonraker” takes Bond to space with ambition and spectacle, but its campy plot, over-the-top villainy, and tonal excess make it one of the more uneven entries in the series. Review: Roger Moore’s James Bond blasts off into orbit in Moonraker, delivering a visually ambitious—but narratively shaky—adventure. The film trades traditional espionage for science-fiction spectacle, with Hugo Drax’s plan for global annihilation and space-based antics stretching the franchise’s credibility. While Moore’s charm and wit remain intact, even he can’t fully anchor the film’s outlandish plot. The space battles, zero-gravity stunts, and exotic locales are visually striking, yet the story often feels cartoonish, and the film leans heavily into humor at the expense of suspense. Lois Chiles’ Holly Goodhead provides a competent ally, but her character lacks the depth of earlier Bond girls. Verdict: Moonraker entertains with scale and imagination, but its campy excess and implausible story prevent it from reaching the heights of the series’ best adventures, making it a mixed, if visually dazzling, outing.
