See more Michael C @Michael71 Oct 27 The Academy Award nominated film "The Bad Seed" is a good movie, that has one problem that prevents it from being great. The movie is definitely worth seeing in my opinion, but it does have one major problem. We should start with all of the good points of the movie. The cast is certainly very good. Patty McCormack is very good as the title character Rhoda Penmark. I think Anthony Hopkins watched this movie to prepare for his role as Hannibal Lector. Tony Award winner the late Nancy Kelly is also quite good as Rhoda's mother Christine. I have to say that her performance was a little over the top at times, but overall she is quite good. I should also point out the late Eileen Heckart as the suffering mother of one of Rhoda's victims. The only problem holding the movie back is there are a number of scenes that are way too drawn out and suffer from too much dialogue. While the actors do well in such scenes I just felt they were going on way too long and I was getting anxious for them to wrap up so the movie can keep moving along. In the end "The Bad Seed" is a good movie that could have been better. Still it is in my opinion a movie worth seeing. See more CodyZamboni Z @CodyZamboni Sep 14 Movie is dialogue heavy , due to its' stage origins, But redeemed by some truly heartbreaking acting by Bad Seed's mom, and the drunk woman who lost her son. The creepy loathsome psycho little girl projects menace, but often, her campy overacting hurts the impact of the movie. A movie has some still very shocking events, and a subject matter that was edgy for its' time. And add me to the list of people upset with the studio imposed tacked on ridiculous ending, followed by the warm friendly smiling cast introductions.
